Session 0.5 - 6/7/25

Tales of the Feywild

Adventurers stole magical stones and sealed the rift between the Material and Feywild. One stone remains that may carry the power, giving willingly by the Guardian to the heroes. It may have have the ability to restore the connection between worlds. It was lost to the sea when the owner shipwrecked intentionally to return to the Elemental Plane of Water.

A Fateful Risk

The apothecary backroom contains jars of preserved imps, quaasits, and devils. Signs of conjuring study were found.

grabbed:

Acquired the tome from the drawer and proceeded the meeting point. No contact arrived, and I left the tome at the dead-drop and proceeded to the Bilgerat. After eating, I begin to feel ill and make my way back to camp.

An armored woman with an eyepatch and six wings was asking Granny about a portal opened when I arrived.

The mystery dust was identified as Faedust, with the power to kill in the material plane, or put to sleep for several months in the Feywild. which caused my illness.

Upon waking, I am informed that my picture has been circulating town. Uncle Elwythr gives me an article saying that Admiral James Ross is looking for help in the city of Ross to the north.

Passing by Harrow, I notice the treeline is cut in what seems like preparation to make a road towards Tredony or Nidoras.

Session 1 - 6/8/25

8th of Abellion

I arrive in Ross and stop by and listen for rumors - finding some folks who know their way to the Admiral Ross. I follow them.

[Characters]

Ross wishes to have us travel the coast outside of his jurisdiction to solve issues without being tied directly to him.

[Quests]

100gp each per goal, bonus to complete all three in two weeks.

Ross agrees to provide a cart and food as the party decides to rescue the shipwrecked slaves first. Ross also covers our stay at the Old Captain's Inn.

A Stop at the Inn

At the Captain's Inn - two men are discussing looking for a murderer and the captain pressuring them. They are concerned that they will have to pin the murder on an innocent poor person.

[Quests]

The victims are children from the slums or someone mistaken as a child from the slums around 11-12 years old. Usually girls. They are drained of blood. The bodies are found in the slums to the south at night.

There is an establishment in town called the Feygrove.

Searching the Slums

Gwyddion gives his holy water flask to Vakarian to keep.

We head out to the slums to bait the killer. Gwyddion dresses as an urchin girl. Lady Elizabeth Bath rolls by in a black carriage with black horses and offers me assistance at her estate an hour south.

Searching the area shows that the cart may travel through about 3x a week.

Searching the Coast

To the west of Ross we come across an old campsight with the tracks of ten people heading south.

Along the way, the tracks seem to start running with three headed to the coast. Gwyddion takes to the air to see, and finds 3 refugees cornered at the cliffs by creatures. Rushing to their aid, the party dispatches a group of four sirens. One of the refugees falls in the fight. We remove the shackles of the others and we head to their camps and free and feed the others.

Returning to the City

Archibald lets us into the city as we bring back the refugees. Archibald informs us that Lord Harrow has need for laborers and may be able to house the refugees. The party is paid for the first task and then provides lodging for the night to the refugees.

Session 2 - 7/6/25

12th of Abellion

[Quests]

from Admiral Ross - 100gp per goal, 100 gp bonus to complete all three in two weeks. (1 down, 11 days left)

from the Guard

Journey to find the Beast

Heading to the south and then west, we make our way to the Bath estate. We sneak over the fence and observe the Lady Bath eating meat in the dining hall. Ham manages to sneak in through cracks in the wall and discovers a human skeleton in the ballroom. Freydis manages to distract and calm the guard dogs with a severed Siren head.

The second floor of the mansion is mostly collapsed with missing floor, straight through to the bottom level. On the third floor is tons of vials, notes, and a cloudy gas aquarium with a misty green liquid. The gang has invented the first HAM radio.

Gwyddion trips a magic statue that opens the front door and announces visitors. He makes it up to the 3rd floor, there are notes about experiments and failure and that they lost their mind. Vials seem to contain blood, there is green liquid like the aquarium, and a mystery black liquid. There is a silhouette of a small humanoid creature floating in the large green aquarium.

Roisin and Vakarian are caught and welcomed into the house. Freydis is being followed by the dogs. Vakarian finds a doctor's office that hasn't been used for it's purpose in a while. Roisin finds a book in Elvish "On the Nature of the Undead" by Artorius Vega. Vakarian finds that the Lady has a Shrine to the "Lady of Loss", a long forgotten goddess.

Conflict

Upon being discovered in the attic, Lady Bath invites Gwyddion to come downstairs - but he threatens to smash the glass container. Lady Bath goes into a frenzy over "threatening to attack her daughter". The party dispatches Lady Bath after fighting her and the ghosts of the children she murdered.

Speaking with the spirits after the attack - they say that the Lady killed them and tried to bring her daughter back. The bodies of the murdered walked themselves back to town before collapsing at sun-up. Vakarian helps the willing spirits to pass on. One of the spirits that were hanged says that she thinks Lady Bath's daughter is in her body, has gone south, and can hear hundreds of voices in her mind.

After the fight.

Gwyddion finds on Lady Bath:

The guard tells about Octavian - an old doctor who is really old a few decades ago. Elizabeth is Octavian's daughter - she disappeared to Nidoras when she got married and returned several years later, alone.

[Ally] Brenon Willis, the drunk guard is back on the case.

The party prepares to travel south to Lord Harrow's estate.

Roisin prepares to attune to the Pendant with a spirit in it.

Session 3 - 7/20/25

13th of Abellion

The Estate

The journey south to the Harrow Estate. Archibald sent word to Lord Harrow to expect our arrival and of our purpose. Lord Harrow is building a road to Tredony - he is being catty about the response. With the help of Lord Archibald - realized does not owe tax to Ross - has become a governor and paying tax to the empire.

Gwyddion convinces the servant to provide us a view from the north tower. We observed very few house guards. No tavern or shops - just new, empty houses. From the south tower, there seems to be a larger number of laborers - about 100. A small mercenary company from Nidoras, linked to one of the Syndicates, the Ring Master - spotted about 10 soldiers. The terrain is very flat around the labor encampment, but the wood provides a great deal of cover. Dwarven laborers are very concentrated on their job. The administrative tent contains a Dwarf working a ledger with a locked chest and worn footpaths leading up to the table. Gwyddion suspects payroll is handled here.

We travel back to Ross, taking about a day.

Back to Ross

14th of Abellion

We meet with the Admiral's wife, Charlotte Ross. The party reports the Lord Harrow's position on being a town and not owing taxes. The Lady Ross reports that there is an uprising going on in Goldengate.

[Quest] 200gp for handling uprising situation in Goldengate. Laborers/Craftsmen appear to be in conflict with the Guild.

Gwyddion sends a letter to Granny Ealswyth telling her about the eyes in the woods outside Harrow. A sea Elf approaches, asking about Granny Ealswyth - but would not reveal her need. Her name is Bryce Hawking.

To Ruxeth - Barhopping simulator

16th of Abellion

The party enters the rundown city of Ruxeth, and stops at the Forbidden Fruit Inn. Vakarian hides their symbols as we enter the city. Zenith the barkeep greets us and provides information.

The bodies outside are people who run afowl of Toren, leader of the Thieves' Guild with his two brothers. A person came before us, paid for a month and disappeared after 3 days - most likely Lara Allen. Zenith's sister Aphelia approaches and says that she protects the tavern, and if anyone gives us trouble, we can say we know Aphelia.

We rent Lara's old room, Gwyddion finds notes left behind. "Thieves Guild... Send Army... Leader died, there's a power vacuum... Nidoras Getting involved..."

The crows tell us about the town... Thanks to Freydis' ability to speak with animals. The Forbidden Fruit Inn and the Apothecary get lots of traffic. Executions occasionally occur in the old ruins, the "Crow's Keep". People avoid the northern district and east wing. Safest areas are near the west and south gate.

The Wolf, The Cat, and The Dragon

17th of Abellion

The two urchins attempt to steal from our room - Ham kills their cricket familiar when he tries to sneak into the room with mage hand. Gwyddion arranges for a meet with the children's boss Nathaniel in the morning in exchange for coin.

Nathaniel says Toren paid him to take her to him - he lost his brother in the process. Nathaniel agrees to take the party down to the guild and may be able to meet Lara if they are willing to do work. He takes us down the stairs in the Inn.

At the meeting with leadership: Three dwarves: a woman (Toren) with two crossbows and a metal chicken and two male dwarves. a man dressed as a Nidoran mercenary - symbol was a gold cross over a silver cross. a woman dressed as a Nidoran noble woman (Felicia Moreno).

Toren wants us to track down a cart that was taken in the town of Ross, headed to Nidoras. It is a large and fragile object to be brought back to Ruxeth whole. Toren hints that Lara is kept somewhere where you would have to hold your breath for a long time.

Felicia Moreno ran away from home in upper Nidoras, Gwyddion recognized her from the wanted posters. Daughter of Marcus Moreno.

Half-elf with golden eyes with many daggers reacts to mentioning the 'watery prison'.

Gwyddion releases Ham in disguise on a mission to keep an eye on the underground while the party is gone.

Session 4 - 8/3/25

18th of Abellion

We start heading back to Ross and are ambushed by a trio of Hellhounds on the road.

Back in Ross

19th of Abellion

Upon reaching Ross, the party decides to send Vakarian alone to speak with Lady Ross about recovering the cart of stolen goods in order to aid their rescue of Governor Lara. Vakarian negotiates the release of the cart to the party in leiu of it going to auction. The contents of which are a collection of marble statues of the Nidoran Council, we are to receive the help of Captain Abigail Hicks to assist. Archibald had been interested in acquiring the cart - and Lady Ross requested that we report Archibald's machinations to her.

Rumors of the Nidoran Council are that members have become less and less public and that Lord Silas was consolidating duties and power while the other members were becoming lazy and less active.

Our horse and cart was successfully returned to the Inn. Gwyddion brings the horses to the statue cart, and the animals get nervous as they approach. Gwyddion recognizes a few of the faces from the newspapers but cannot recall names. Roisin hears a voice in her head say "there are people in the cart".

21st of Abellion

Zenith and Aphelia's Haunt.

Gwyddion pens a letter inviting guards to Nidoras to protect entertainment centers. The party discusses their plans to tackle the issue of the Thieves' Guild.

Planning to take advantage of the chaos and turmoil between Toren and his brothers - the party seeks to ally themselves with Zenith and Aphelia then move to discover more about what happened to The Shadows.

Session 5 - 8/17/25

Showdown in the Rundown town at Sundown

The party discusses the aftermath - we will seek an alliance between the party, Zenith/Aphelia, and Lara Allyn to stabilize the town after the fall of the guild.

The party makes a plan: Gwyddion and Ham will head down below early to distract the Kobolds Vakarian and Roisin will speak with Aphelia and Zenith about an alliance and to secure the cart. Freydis will secure "The Council" in the cart.

[The_Diplomats] Vakarian and Roisin appeal to Zenith and Aphelia to help stabilize the town after the guild falls. Zenith guides Vakarian, Roising, and Freydis (with the cart) to meet their faction of the guild. It turns out to be the shadows and the apothecary staff.

[The_Scouts] Ham delivers the letter to the kobolds, who immediately abandon the post. Ham proceeds to stacks 10gp from their poker table behind a stack of bottles then takes up a scouting position in the main hall while Gwyddion heads back up to the tavern.

[Together] Mira, the leader of the group speaks to us, Dubhe the half-elf has been held under the curse of Lycanthropy and only Thorun holds the treatment to prevent transformation. Thorun has withheld the treatment since Dubhe has not been doing what has been asked. They say the beast will break out tonight without the cure, but they may be able to use it to take down the guild. We would need to seek the cure quickly when it happens or she would destroy everyone.

The cure is likely either in the sunken vault or the treasure room near her office and would need to be smeared on the open wounds. To get into the Sunken Vault one has to open a sluice to drain the water and make it walkable. The cure is kept in a wooden box with a silver crescent moon.

Sir Cockerill, Torun's pet - can turn people into metal statues.

Making our moves

The party stages in the tunnels with their new allies to scout out the guild headquarters. Roisin reaches into her amulet to communicate with the spirits trapped.

Gwyddion advances around the open area and sees the dwarven mercenaries gathering up in the center. Behind Torun's room, there is lever to control the sluice gates. Pressing the left lever up, the central reservoir begins to drain. The left lever controls the drain from the reservoir to the vault, and the right lever is expected to control the drain from the path out.

While the dwarves attack, Torun 'metalifies' her brothers. The party get's tangled up with the combat, while Ham runs into the vault after Felicia and finds her trying to move the metal statue of an Elven woman. Aphelia applies the 'metalification' poison to Dubhe. A ghost from Roisin's locket slits Torun's throat. The survivors hold up in Torun's headquarters as Dubhe tears into the door. Gwyddion is able to apply the cure and Freydis rides the beast with a rope until it is subdued long enough to revert form and for us to reverse the petrification cure.

Off of Torun: 50gp keys to the complex petrification cure 10 poisoned bolts light crossbow

Vakarian learns that Viktor and the mercenaries were infiltrating the Thieves' Guild on behalf of the Nidorans. Felicia tells us that the status is her friend, the Flame Dancer. She wishes to leave to Tredony. Gwyddion reverses the petrification and the party grants them some weapons, food, and a small bit of coin for their journey to Nidoras.

From Felicia Moreno, she gives a signet ring and leaves - wishing to be known as dead to her family.

The party then prepares to head back to Ross with the statues in tow.

Session 6 - 8/31/25

23rd of Abellion

Returning to Ross

In the Admiral's Office

Received 300gp for completing our original goals. The party turned over the surviving Dwarven Thieves' Guild leaders to the Admiral for Justice.

The Admiral asked us to head down to Nidoras and Tredony to keep an eye on things. Nidoras to act as the eyes and ears of the Admiralty. Tredony to establish personal relationships with the artisans. There is an artisan who makes the finest statues.

Gwyddion talks to the Admiral about funding the creation of a replica statue to help find out what Archibald's plans are for it. He provides a bank note for 1,000gp to pay for the statue.

The party obtains a sketch of one of the status, a half-elf woman who was of middle importance.

A Harrowing journey

The party pens off letters to Zenith and the Apothecary informing them of the results of meeting with the Admiral and inquiring about the Cockatrice salve.

Travelling through Harrow, a marketplace has emerged selling some locally produced goods.

In Harrow, the laborers have run out of ale and are going to complain to the lord. Somewhere in the words, there is a spot that is really muddy and the road keeps sinking. Some of the workers appear to have gone missing, and a search party has been sent out 3 days ago with no results. A new tent has been sent up, wailing can be heard from inside. Inside is a member of the search party, who won't wake and the wound to his leg won't heal. The injury is tied to the location and will not heal while the injured remains.

A Fox in the Woods

Staying the night in the woods, Vakarian first makes contact with the Fox-like creature, who then lies next to Gwyddion for the final watch. Through his connection, Gwyddion discovers it to be a Fey creature - and Freydis feels that it is akin to her own guardian forest spirit, Thala.

Ransacking the tent: Ledger 500gp gemstones - unrefined (up to 250gp) Bank Notes to Bank of Nidoras - Quartermaster Beric Bronzehammer (1,000gp)

Beric Bronzehammer - his family is Arkadian but has set up shop in Nidoras and owns the newspaper in the Golden Coast.

Gwyddion gives 50gp to the refugees that the party had saved and brought to Harrow and warn them to leave. The guard attempts to enlist the party to help with the defense of the town. The guard decide instead to leave.

Roisin spots the Lord attempting to leave, Gwyddion stops him and mounts his horse and creatively convinces him to return.

Taking from the Lord: 100gp letter to the Arkadian parliament.

From the Castle: 10 person silver dining set (several hundred gold) multiple paintings of estates he owns (~1,000gp) golden candlesticks ~20 (500gp)

Total loot to be distributed: 500gp 10 person silver dining set (several hundred gold) golden candlesticks ~20 (500gp)

(loot was sold, total of 1,300gp in party ledger)

Gwyddion send the Treasonous letter from Lord Harrow and another note saying "He's coming your way on foot." with Ham the 'Raven'. Ham the Raven should hopefully get to Ross before the Lord does on foot. The party takes 4 horses.

Session 7 - 9/14/25

25th of Abellion: Harrow

Road to Tredony - with the goal of convincing artisans and merchants to go North to Ruxeth.

The party agrees to put the confiscated property to use convincing the artisans and any other party/Admiral goals.

The Faire

28th of Abellion: Tredony

Beryl - the "most reknowned gemcutter" in the coast Tonar Willoughby - the orc expert statue artisan who cuts marble statues with his son. Artorius Redwyne - the painter Kimek - the blacksmith (a few merchants that Gwyddion didn't meet while trading gems...) Opal - the alchemist with fireworks Mavis & Torch - the glassblower and her miniature dragon.

Gwyddion contract with Beryl, trading the uncut gems for 175gp and to commission a moonstone necklace of silver that will be ready in a few days time. Gwyddion commissions a colored-glass dragon for 50gp ready the next day The blacksmith offers 700gp for the silver set and candlesticks, 400gp for just the candlesticks The gemcutter offers 400gp for just the silver set Gwyddion sells the candlesticks and silver set for 800gp total The Captain is in charge of all safety precautions in town and has forbidden travel to Ruxeth. The Captain's office is just south of the town square. His daughter is a follower of the Lawfather.

Gwyddion receives a letter from Cogwyr stating that the Triarchy is in disarray and two members are in open conflict. The streets are unsafe and there are already bodies. The Bilgerat Inn can provide safe passage to the upper districts. Gwyddion's wanted status is unknown at this time, but the distraction is in place.

The Captain enters the tavern, ordering "the usual" - burned fish and chips with an ale.

The Captain contracts the party for security at the festival - meeting at the 29th (tomorrow) in his office for assignments.

The party receives a reply from the Apothecary in Ruxeth - they have all the needed ingredients for a cure to the Marble status save for the blood required from the specific individual creature that caused the petrification. The trail leads back to Nidoras.

Roisin inquires about her father from the innkeeper from the Wanderlust Inn. Her father made a deal with the devil and was turned to ash but survived. Just Devils vs. Demons and stuff. The Lady Morgan of Baeleth and the supposed Apothecary Aster Penth were interested in finding a devil.

Gwyddion runs into Buttercup at the Reverie, who says that Aster has set off travelling and has not been heard from in a while.

The party contracts Barrel the statue-maker to recreate the Councilmember statue to be ready in two weeks. If the party needs to send a porter to transport, the codeword will be "Criss-Cross Applesauce".

Gwyddion shares that he is aware of Aster Penth's apothecary and promised to help when they get to Nidoras.

Session 8 - 9/28/25

Day 1 - the Hiring

29th of Abellion: Tredony

We are scheduled to meet the Captain to receive our orders during the festival. The Reverie provides the party with "Heroes' Feast" as per the spell: Immune to poison and frightened, advantage on all wisdom saving throws, and increase maximum hitpoints by 2d10 (20).

A circus with a bad reputation from Nidoras has arrived in town and is concerning to the guard. Laura Barlow - daughter of the Captain and cleric of the Lawfather - bestows us the authority to remove the town and area if they cause any trouble before.

Payment for guarding the circus: 100gp per person per day, for 3 days 300gp total

Vakarian introduces the party to Edric, the Circus Goon - one of the circus guards posted at the entrance. They communicated the party is free to look around and that their investigation will not be impeded.

Vakarian and Roisin go to speak to the Baron of the circus while Gwyddion and Freydis check the perimeter. The cages hold Hellhounds, Tall-slender wolves from the mountains of Nidoras, and a big dog-like creature with a scorpion tale. Lucilla the Cagemaster. Amongs the free-roaming creatures is a 'Coushee' pup.

Vakarian says that things have gone missing and someone named Malvolo read in the cards about our arrival. "The cards, the cards, the cards will tell. The past, the present and the future as well"

The long tent holds Aramis' office and the Lady's things. Ham finds a wanted poster inside the tent with Gwyddion's face (200gp dead or alive) as well as another for Felicia Moreno (1,000gp alive).

Day 2 - The Event

30th of Abellion: Tredony

A woman is handing out flyers to the Strauss Theater (Puppet Theater) in Nidoras. Freydis and Gwyddion patrol the right half of the circus while Vakarian and Roisin take the left with the Ham Radio set up. Ham darts in and out of tents and back to Vakarian.

The strongman attempts to cheat at a contest of strength with Freydis, but Gwyddion disrupts his spell with minor illusion - placing a pants ripping sound. No one won the contest, but Gwyddion convinces the Strongman to pay half to Freydis since he cheated.

Lady Genevieve, owner of the Reverie, approaches us and says that she has noticed that the circus is scamming the townsfolk and asked us if that made it okay to steal back. Gwyddion states that they were hired to watch the Circus, not the townsfolk.

Freydis and Gwyddion go to watch the Beast Tamer. Freydis notices that the beast only obeys what the tamer commands and is not aggressive on it's own. At the end of the show, the beast bats away the whip and attacks Freydis and Gwyddion. Heroes' Feast is still in effect: Immune to poison and frightened, advantage on all wisdom saving throws, and increase maximum hitpoints by 2d10 (20).

Session 9 - 10/12/25

Showdown in the Big Top

30th of Abellion: Tredony

Shushuva - the Demon Scorpion Dog has attacked. The party put it down, while Ham went to investigate and finds that Lady Felicia Moreno has slipped away.

Gwyddion goes to investigate where Felicia Moreno disappeared from and finds her footsteps. The Tarot Cards: Sun, Cage Gwyddion draws the Mansion card (and succeeds on a saving throw, but isn't aware) second he draws the Snake Buttercup drew the Sun, Felicia drew the Cage. Buttercup unfortunately didn't see where Felicia went. The son of the Blacksmith says that Lady Moreno was staying at the Reverie Lord Ullyver Parr - prominent noble in Upper Nidoras, owner of several Inns, Brothels, and Casinos, he says that several people are searching for Lady Moreno - but he isn't one of them. It's hard to tell if it's a lie, because everything he says sounds like one.

Gwyddion inspects the Baron's books while he is out of the tent. Mostly just expenses: animal food, people food, medical supplies, new tents from tent damage. A letter from Daddy Moreno: Indicates that the Circus has incurred significant debt with the Lord and he is impatient for those debts to be paid off. The penalty for inaction would be to inform the Ringmaster about his displeasure.

Roisin asks Gwyddion about the wanted poster of himself and he promises to share everything later, in private.

The Reverie (again)

30th of Abellion: Tredony, The Reverie

The party heads back to the Reverie for the night. Gwyddion informs Zenith that the Baron may be out to get Lady Moreno and she may be in danger. Vakarrion speaks to the Captain of the Guard, Barlow who gives the party the authority to run the circus out of town if needed and may have guards/manpower to loan to do so. Archibald and Lord Parr may be hanging out with Jonathan Avery, a wealthy merchant who trades in valuable gemstones.

Bathhouse confessions

The party takes to their room - in the form of the bathhouse again with a sand mandala.

Gwyddion explains his backstory of stealing the ledger from Aster Penth in Nidoras and being framed.

Session 10 - 10/26/25

How do you Catch a Drunk Chicken?

1st of Flaren: Tredony

The party prepares for the last day of the festival.

Vakarian and Roisin meet the Bounty Hunter Karsus who is looking for Gwyddion.

Vakarian overhears the ringmaster and a woman talking about splitting the party and snatching Gwyddion. They already captured a woman to bring back to Nidoras - presumably Felicia Moreno.

The party summons the guard to interrogate the circus over the kidnapping of a woman. The Hellhounds are released and seek out Malvolo and his deck of cards. Malvolo uses the Cage card to escape and Gwyddion follows into a pocket dimension. Gwyddion finds himself in the fey camp but quickly sees through the illusion.

Malvolo says he is a devil, beholden to the Ringmaster who is also a devil. By writing his name in the book ( Astor Penth's ledger ) he was placed in service of the Ringmaster and brought to the material plane.

The book contains 3 names, including Malvolo ( the most powerful, by his own account ). He was also the 3rd in order. He tricked someone else to write their name in the book ( Roisin's father ), who was originally beholden to Zariel. Astor Penth is the one that contacts Devils and gets them to write their name in the book. The first devil was Nicolai. The second devil was Eamon ( Roisin's father ).

The Coushee follows the party back to the Reverie - super-intent on guiding the spirits in Roisin's locket. Gwyddion fills in the party about his discussion with Malvolo, his knowledge of Roisin's father, and the devil's book. The woman who gave posters for the theatre in Nidoras attracted the attention of the Coushee - "can't guide this one!"

Session 11 - 11/29/25

The party decides to reach out to the Guard Captain and his daughter about what to do with the cards.

Things to do in Nidoras: Reconaissance Theater - Coushee couldn't guide the woman, maybe undead? Ringmaster - is a Devil searching for the apothecary's ledger. Secure the cards.

Gwyddion pays 15gp to the alchemist to dye his hair blonde as well as buy numerous healing potions. Roisin and Gwyddion upgrade armor before taking the night to head out for Nidoras in the morning.

Road to Nidoras

2nd of Flaren:

Gwyddion brings the party to the home encampment. Gwyddion passes on the silver moonstone necklace and the colored glass dragon to Lynde. Granny Ealswyth entreats Gwyddion to find the 6-winged woman to give the Devil Malvolo over to and she arranges for the meet. The Triarchy has collapsed and are at each other's throats. There was a vote to reduce the council's power and elected the first Duke, Lord Silas Mystralath. The army and navy were disbanded and is entirely defended by the Duke's mercenaries and a pirate company loyal to him. Gwyddion tells Granny that Bryce Hawking was searching for her - Granny said to go ahead and set up a meeting if desired.

Meeting at the Bilgerat Inn, Gwyddion inquires about the Triarchy - The Ringmaster was not so impressed that the Rat King was stepping on his turf. The Circus started it about being tied to both Triarch's. The Star's Theater leader ended up dead. A woman claiming to the be the old Strauss' daughter appears to be running it. Uncle Ewythr attempted to use a disguise spell on himself to claim the reward for Lady Moreno's return. She was to be married off to some noble. He's now legally wed to Lord William Deck and imprisoned. Lord Deck would like to push for his execution. Aster Penth has not been out much - mostly meeting with customers. An old sailor, Captain Havelock, had business with her. The party is set up with a widow's home in the Upper district.

Session 12

Becoming Morning

2nd of Flaren:

Ham gets sent to find Lord Deck's jail/fortress and snoop around.

Thierry Bilge leads us into the sewers to guide us to the Inner City where our temporary abode is available.

Thierry disappears for about 40 minutes checking to see if the coast is clear, but doesn't return. Gwyddion checks through the grate and finds him speaking to the Captain of the guard Haley Almos - seems to be old friends. He's lost track of time. Vakarian speaks into his mind and reminds him to stay on task. Entering the widow's estate - it is lit by candles that give off no heat and melt no wax. After being snuffed out - they do not relight. Gwyddion finds it to remind him of Granny Elswyth's magic. Not quite physical, but not quite illusionary.

Roisin smashes some teacups and the lights flicker around us. Moving to the back room we find portraits with a young woman and a merchant - with further portraits of the two getting older and older until just the woman is left. Presumably this is the widow of the house, the Lord and Lady Reyder.

Some of the plants in the sunroom are purple and some are bioluminescent. Vakarian is seeing things. Moving through the library - we see that the occupants of the house were into world travel. The chair of the Nidoran Traveller's association was based here - a ledger exists where members contributed to expeditions for artifacts and treasures from 30 years ago. At some point one of them laid claim to the Heart of the Sea, but was refunded as whoever was set out to find it wasn't able to. It had been located in the Aelwald guarded by a community of Druids. In the desk is a golden watch, a golden compass, and 56gp, 18sp, 33cp. Gwyddion leaves them behind for now. As the party moves on - Gwyddion pockets the goodies.

In the children's room - Gwyddion finds blocks under the bed and rolls them across the floor. They spell "Your Welcome" (not enough blocks to spell "You're"). Gwyddion takes the Dragonborn stuffed doll. It is faded white but appears to have been red at some point, over 40 years ago. Lady Bath has told Roisin that she once played with these toys as a guest of the Reyders. Freydis rolls them again and they spell "You Are Safe".

Gwyddion dreams of wandering the halls when stopped by a black haired girl who asks for her toy Dragonborn back so that she can sleep. Her name is Marilyn, and the toy's name is Sir Francis, a pirate who steals from the rich and gives to the poor children. Elouise cooks and cleans the house, and Agnes keeps us safe. Marilyn says she can't bring us to Agnes yet. Gwyddion walks around but finds he cannot physically leave the house. The fireplaces are all lit and the wood is burning normally. There is no dust in the office this time. Gwyddion wanders to the kitchen, hearing a noise. Gwyddion meets a women in there preparing ingredients - Elouise. Elouise is preparing breakfast for the party for the next morning. She asks Gwyddion to clean up the porcelain in the front room. When he does, the cups reconstitute themselves on the table almost as if by magic.

Gwyddion meets Agnes while on watch - she explains that she is a Fey that shepards the spirits to the other side but was killed. She states that Roisin can help stop the spirits from being stolen by the "Revenant". She has been fighting for two weeks.

Session 13

Pre-Session in #the-hearth

GM: the party sits around the breakfast table, all recovering from their haunting night. Although the spirits were welcoming and friendly, the news they brought was anything but comforting. An entity refered to as a revenant is preventing any and all deceased from passing on and is gathering these lost souls around itself. Every day it grows stronger and the first moves to avenge those who wronged its members in life have already been made. The population of Nidoras started refering to this entity as "the blood red rose". It's now up to the party to decide if their political and personal obligations in Nidoras should take a backseat to this existential threat to the Coast and the world as a whole

Gwyddion: "You know, my Uncle is on the chopping block to join the Revenant's army. Even if we save him first, as long a shot as that is - I can't bear the thought of any of my family being taken by that hateful creature." Gwyddion shifts his mug in front of him, uncomfortably - starting down at the table for a good long time before glancing at the party's faces.

Freydis: Freydis shifts uneasy in her seat "Noone should be trapped in the Blood Red Rose's power, it is wrong and against nature... How would we go about it to stop the Reveneant? Is there a way we even can stop it? What about all the captured spirits, are they the source of power?"

Vakarian: Vakarian exhales slowly, like a measured prayer rather than a sigh. He looks up at the party, his golden eyes steady rather than fiery. "This revenant is fed by stolen souls. Not willingly given, not judged, not laid to rest. Taken. Used. The longer we delay, the more souls it claims." His gaze shifts to Gwyddion, softer now "If your Uncle dies while this thing still stands, his soul will not be judged. It will be taken. That is not justice, even if his crimes were real." He looks back across the table and after a pause, he adds: "Every death in this city feeds it, that means time is our enemy. We may have obligations here in Nidoras, but if this thing is allowed to grow, I fear there will be no city left." Vakarian drums one claw lightly against the table. "The question is not if we act, it is how."

Gwyddion: "The coushee." Gwyddion puts his hand down on the table and sits upright. "The coushee can follow the souls that need to pass on, right? Perhaps it could help us."

Freydis: Freydis looks over to Gwyddion "You mean like it could herd away the souls that are in danger of being trapped by the Revenant to make sure it doesn't get even more dangerous?" That would for sure be helpful. But how would we stop the Blood Red Rose itself?"

Gwyddion: "That's an interesting take. I figured it could help us sniff them out at the least - but if it can help us weaken her... We could use that. We may have to improvise on the spot. And we'd have to find the coushee first."

Roisin: Roisin studies the group and drops her eyes to her lap. "I am going to need your help and assistants to tame your daughter. Can I trust you?" Roisin silently asks her first pocket serial killer. Looking up to the group. "Will the coushee work with us though?"

Freydis: "As obsessed as it is with herding souls to the afterlife I am sure it will help us in this regard"

GM: Elizabeth Bath answers "I want my family to be reunited in death and put some of my many mistakes right, I will help where I can" she pauses "Though my husband might know more about what's going on, my studies were his long before I ever went down that path"

Gwyddion: "It's goals align with ours. That's the most reliable form of trust, behind only family."

Roisin: Roisin shifts in her sit, flicking a bit of dust off her fur and eyes a cup of steaming coffee on the table. "We will need to find Lady Bath's husband, he would know more regarding what their daughter has become. Though, he went down that path long before Bath did so - who knows what state of mind he is in"

Gwyddion: "Kronos Thull. He should have been from here in Nidoras if I recall. I have his bank letters still." "Find Kronos Thull's research, find the coushee." Gwyddion strokes his chin thoughtfully

Freydis: "Agness owned the coushee... Would she be still connected to it? Maybe even be able to call it, even in death?*

Vakarian: Vakarian glance moves to Freydis, though he seems uneasy "I guess we have some questions for Agnes regarding the coushee. If it can sense souls on the brink of being taken, that can be of use." He looks to Gwyddion "Those records you carry from the Bath Estate may end up saving more lives than any blade. Have you any possible hints from within them that can point us somewhere to begin searching?" he straightens, resolve seemingly settling upon him "I feel this is our course, the coushee and learning more from Kronos Thrull so we may better know what it is we may face. Confronting the Blood Red Rose will be no small feat I feel, anything we can arm ourselves with or use to gain leverage will be of benefit." Finally, his eyes drop briefly to the steaming coffee, then back to the table "Justice done poorly is no justice at all."

Breakfast and Undeath

3rd of Flarion

The party sets off to find Kronos Thull's manor outside the city - heading through the sewers to the Bilgerat Inn and then to the manor outside of town without incident. On the 2nd floor, the party finds a journal of Kronos with an entry from three days after his death at sea. For some reason he didn't die when he drowned, and walked three miles back on the bottom of the sea.

In the left wing, the first room appears to belong to the child, the Revenant - the door is sealed magically and the windows blacked out with magic.

In the basement, Gwyddion finds: a letter of proof of employment for Kronos and the Golden Coast Shipping Company, a wedding ring, a wanted poster for Kronos "Charon" Thull, a dagger with barnacles, a leather booklet, a bunch of baubles and gemstones worth 150gp

Kronos seemed to bury his past ritualistically in the mansion. From his journal, he spoke about his death and not being able to give Elizabeth the life she deserved - that he should not be able to bear children even though he did. He left out to sea and vowed never to return.

In the basement, boxes and boxes appear to be filled with unworn sailor's clothes. Gwyddion acquires a sailor's uniform in each party member's size.

Inside a fake wall, a prayer room with an altar is found. On the altar, a manuscript of Kronos Thull - containing an oath. An oath: "None shall suffer the fate, that those have under his command. He shall never command again a crew of the living. None under his command shall drown at sea."

The party splits with Gwyddion and Freydis heading to the Fey camp and Vakarian and Roisin heading towards the temple for holy water. Granny Elswyth offers the advice of dividing the spirits and not facing them whole. She also warns that the spirits may seek home more than they seek rest. Granny says that she saw a Coushee with the folks of the theater in Nidoras.

Gwyddion gives the wanted poster to Lyndhe and describes Elizabeth and Eleanor and asks her to paint them together as a family. Lyndhe also gives the painting that was asked for by Gwyddions party mate.

Helga from the temple wanted to meet them at the morgue to discuss further, and a meeting could be arranged.

The party decides to head to the morgue before heading back to the estate.
